Student Innovators Develop VR Training for Special Educational Needs
Three G6 students—Milton Lam, Lucas Chen, and Alwin Chan—spent their summer developing a VR training system for students with special educational needs.
After winning the Great Bay Area session of the "Do Your:bit" STEAM competition in September, they improved their system and placed 3rd Runner-up in the Hong Kong ICT Award Student Innovation Award—the best ever result by primary school students in this competition.
With input from experts including Education Psychiatrist, Ms. Hue, and Social Worker, Ms. Angela, the team created two modules: a breathing exercise and a focus training program for SEN students.
Incorporating feedback from the judges, the students plan to enhance the system’s stability and user-friendliness. A trial project is scheduled to launch soon in collaboration with The Education University of Hong Kong's Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education.
We congratulate the team on their remarkable initiative and encourage all our A-School STEAMers to continue learning, creating, and making positive contributions to society.
