Examination Results of HKDSE and GCE AL 2019
Congratulations to Class of 2019! Our 2018-19 Grade 12 students achieved flying colours in both the HKDSE and GCE AL examinations. About 180 degree programmes were offered to our students from local and overseas universities, which meant each applicant received more than one offer on average. The promising result sent all our graduates to top-notch tertiary institutions. The further study rate reached 100%.
A-School students have excelled at HKDSE again this year. About three quarters of them met the general entrance requirements (i.e. “3322” in four core subjects) for JUPAS undergraduate programmes. The percentages of our students obtaining Level 4 or above and Level 5 or above in the four core subjects and most of the elective subjects are significantly higher than territory averages. With their outstanding performance, 82% of students were entitled to a JUPAS offer, with around 50% from the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
The GCE AL result released in mid-August confirmed the conditional offers granted to our students earlier. 66% of our students scored A or above in subjects taken and 41% with A*, the second consecutive year topping the UK average of around 25%. Half of the class got 3A or above and 40% of them got 2A* or above in subjects taken. They received more than 30 conditional offers in the GCE AS in early January and finally settled with their dream programmes in the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, University of California, Davis, SCAD, to name but a few.
The feat is the culmination of students’ hard work and commitment together with the dedication and expertise of their teachers. All in all, 100% of our students received offers from local and overseas universities. Our students continue to be admitted into the University of Oxford and Imperial College London, and other distinguished tertiary institutions around the world. More than half of the offers are within top 100 on the QS World University Rankings, such as the University of Edinburgh, Peking University, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Manchester, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the University of New South Wales and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, etc. The diversity of programmes admitted to has covered a wide range of interests of our students, including Medical Science, Law, Accounting, Business Administration, Psychology, Economics and Finance, Languages, Engineering, Aviation, IT, Design, as well as some double degree programmes, etc. It is worth mentioning that 4% of the students were admitted to law schools in Hong Kong. The steady growth in the admission rate has proven the success of our through-train education in providing quality education and strong academic support to motivate students’ learning in all aspects and at all levels.
We are delighted to bid farewell to another class of aspiring and buoyant youths. May the school motto “Passionate to Learn, with Confidence. Determined to Succeed, with Vision” inspire our students to follow the steps of their seniors. Let’s wish the Class of 2019 every success in their future endeavours.
