Secondary School Choir and Chamber Boys' Choir Sharing the Stage with World-Renowned Vienna Boys Choir

News date

At its 525th anniversary, the world-renowned Vienna Boys Choir has a long tradition performing in Hong Kong. Its return to the city after the pandemic has been eagerly anticipated. The choir gave three charity concerts at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall, and our Secondary School Choir and Chamber Boys' Choir had the honour to participate in two of them on 27 & 28 October.

Hong Kong was the last stop of the Vienna Boys Choir's Asia Tour this year. They brought to the enthusiastic audience of Hong Kong a concert-length programme of diverse choral music from around the globe. Our Secondary School Choir and Chamber Boys' Choir learned two exquisite songs from their tour repertoire and performed alongside our Austrian friends, as well as members of the Choir of SKH Tsang Shiu Tim Secondary School and Hong Kong Hope Through Music Children's Choir. Their voices blended in perfect harmonies – one could hardly tell that the singers didn't normally sing together! A surprise for the audience---as much as it was a surprise for us – was that our Chamber Boys' Choir captain, WONG Chi Hang Jacob (11B), was invited to sing a solo without prior notice. Jacob was able to rise to the occasion and impressed everyone.

This event marked the first public performances of our Secondary School Choir and Chamber Boys' Choir, two of the inseparable parts of the choral tritonic at our Secondary Division. Stay tuned for more achievements from our Choir Teams this school year!
