<<Fostering Compassion Through Culinary Creativity: "Eat Fair Campaign 2024/25" - Hunger-free Meal Design Competition>>

Honoured to share that our school has been awarded the Silver Prize and the Most Active Participation School Award in the "Eat Fair Campaign 2024/25" - Hunger-free Meal Design Competition! This competition, organised by Oxfam Hong Kong, aims to raise students' awareness of issues such as poverty in Hong Kong and globally, unequal distribution of resources, and the crisis brought upon vulnerable groups by climate change. It encourages students to demonstrate their commitment to helping others through creativity and practical means by designing affordable and nutritious lunchboxes.

In this competition, participants are required to design nutritionally balanced, simple-to-prepare meals for subdivided flat families with limited resources. Out of the 700 initial entries, our young contestants, HUANG Ching Kiu and LEUNG Lok Hey from Grade 8, stood out by advancing to the finals as the youngest -contestants among mostly senior students. Their relentless practice and refinement of their lunchbox creation ensured it not only met the competition's time constraints but also resonated with the challenges faced by those in subdivided flats. Their innovative meal designs not only impressed the judges but also highlighted their profound understanding of the challenges encountered by the underprivileged communities. In addition, their well-prepared one-minute presentation further illustrated their comprehensive knowledge of important social issues such as poverty and resource inequality, significantly impressing the judges.
 
This competition perfectly aligns with A-School's values, emphasising the importance of empathy and social responsibility among our students. Through this enriching experience, our young learners have put compassion into action, demonstrating how creative solutions can effectively tackle real-world challenges.
