The 13th Aquatic Meet – Secondary Division

News date

The opening ceremony of the 13th Aquatic Meet commenced with the singing of the national anthem and the offering of an invocation.  In the opening speech given by our honorable guest, Mr. Shum Wai-Lam William, member of the School Advisory Committee, reminded students that the most important thing is to enjoy whatever they were doing and the results did not matter much since no one would always be the winner or loser.   With the firing of the opening horn by Mr. Shum and principals, the Aquatic Meet officially began.

As sportsmanship is one of our treasured school values, representatives of the athletes pledged to give their best in the competitions no matter what the results would be.  Flags were presented to the stage and the five chambers cheered and chanted their slogans by turns.

While the athletes strove for championships in various races, chamber members shouted enthusiastically to support them.  Prize award ceremonies were held after the completion of all races.

In the closing ceremony, our Guest of Honor, Mr. Wong Tsz To (黃子圖), athlete of Hong Kong Triathlon National Squad, encouraged students to develop passions for both sports and studies and strive for excellence.  He further added that being physically fit is as important as studies since many challenges would be encountered along the way to excellence.  Students were assured that their efforts would pay off and were urged to follow their dreams and never give up.

In addition, Mr. Teny Wu, member of the School Advisory Committee, echoed Mr. William Shum in his closing remarks.  Though defeats and victories seemed to be a matter of life and death for students now, they would become less important as they grew up.  Students were advised to choose something which they were good at and turn it into a career.  By doing so, they would be happier and less stressed in lives.

Last but not least, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our guests, teachers and student helpers who helped make the Aquatic Meet a success.  For more highlights of the Aquatic Meet, please go to HKBUAS CampusTV onto which a video produced by our CampusTV will be uploaded in early March.   You are also welcomed to go to ctv_daily on Instagram for more videos produced by them.
