Science Week 2024

News date

A-School is committed to developing students' awareness and understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, the theme of the school's Science Week celebration was "Sustainable Development Goals".

The SDGs were adopted by all UN member states in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. Also known as the Global Goals, the SDGs provide a roadmap for creating a more equitable and sustainable future where no one is left behind.

To support this important initiative, A-School had set up interactive game booths for students focusing on three key SDGs: Goal 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 14 - Life Below Water, and Goal 15 - Life on Land. The games were designed to engage students and deepen their knowledge about the targets and indicators associated with these specific goals.

Additionally, as part of the school's Integrated Studies (IS) curriculum, students participated in an upcycling workshop. They collected recycled materials and transformed them into useful products, putting into practice the principles of the circular economy and sustainable consumption. This hands-on learning experience equipped students with practical skills and creative ideas for repurposing waste materials.

Through these engaging educational activities, A-School aims to empower its students to become responsible global citizens and equip them with the knowledge and tools to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals both now and in the future.
