Iron Excel Second Training Camp

News date

Last week, our esteemed leadership team, Excel33P, embarked on a remarkable hiking journey and had the privilege of staying in the captivating Kop Tong Village. This was the second Iron Excel Training camp, which proved to be both demanding and fulfilling. The experiences gained during this camp are bound to leave a lasting impression on the participants, as they learnt valuable knowledge and developed leadership skills throughout the journey.

Our second Iron Excel camp's theme centered around mountain hiking, rediscovering lost villages, and uncovering the stories within. The mountain hiking component posed a significant challenge for our students. They had to wake up early in the morning at 5:30 a.m. and embark on a journey up the steep slopes of Tiu Tang Lung while it was still dark. Reaching the mountaintop to witness the breathtaking sunrise was a truly satisfying experience for all. However, the path was arduous, requiring students to use their hands for support and cling to tree trunks and branches when the terrain became steeper. This part of the camp emphasized the importance of teamwork and allowed students to exercise their leadership skills by taking care of their group mates and contributing to the collective goal. The students learned the value of perseverance as they faced the physical and mental challenges of climbing the mountain. Despite the difficulties, they did not give up easily, demonstrating courage and a willingness to step out of their comfort zones to embrace new challenges.

In addition to the mountain hiking, the students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the life of Kop Tong village and uncover its hidden stories. They learned about the village's founder, Uncle Faat, and his extraordinary endeavor in establishing the community. Interacting with the villagers and Uncle Faat, the students gained a deeper understanding of the village's history and culture. They even had the chance to learn bread making from Uncle Faat and contribute to the community by assisting him in running his store and collecting wood for cooking. These experiences allowed the students to develop a sense of empathy and appreciation for the lives of others, as well as learn valuable skills through hands-on activities.

Overall, the leadership training camp provided our excel33P team with a transformative experience. Through mountain hiking and rediscovering lost villages, the students learned the importance of teamwork, perseverance, courage, and empathy. They sharpened their leadership skills and broadened their horizons by stepping out of their comfort zones. This camp will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on their personal development, equipping them with the skills they need to become effective leaders in the future.
