Into the Wild with A-School Grade 11 Biology Students!

News date

Trading textbooks for nature! In early February, our Grade 11 Biology students embarked on an unforgettable 2-day, 1-night ecological field trip.

Ever wondered who resides hidden in our local woodlands and grasslands? Our students became eco-detectives! They got their hands dirty using Winkler sampling—a fascinating technique to collect tiny soil creatures—and employed specialized keys and iNaturalist to identify various arthropods. Additionally, they hit the trails to conduct comprehensive surveys of our beautiful local butterflies (Rhopalocera)!

This trip wasn't just about rigorous fieldwork; it was about experiencing the vibrancy of ecosystems firsthand, bonding as a team, and igniting a genuine passion for biodiversity conservation.

We are incredibly proud of our future earth stewards for their enthusiasm and curiosity. Keep exploring, Grade 11!
