Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming various aspects of our lives, from communication and transportation to healthcare, entertainment and education.  We were honoured to have invited Professor Loh Po-Shen, a renowned American mathematician, to conduct a master class on AI at our school.

Professor Loh is the former national coach of the United States’ International Mathematical Olympiad Team for over a decade. He has been teaching at Carnegie Mellon University since 2010 and has made significant achievements and contributions in mathematics and education.  Professor Loh is also a tech entrepreneur and passionate in exploring the growing role of AI in education and AI’s importance on the world.

Professor Loh advised students of two main ideas:   firstly, to contribute to the society in their capacity, and secondly, to find a career which they are passionate about.  Along the way, to strive in the age of AI, it is crucial to demonstrate empathy, foster collaboration, and uphold good values at all time.

Professor Loh also shared his personal experiences with us.  As intelligent as he is, he also encountered difficulties at the early stage of his career.  He told us how he utilized social media to stimulate students in their learning and how he acquired speaking skills to engage his students.  The participants were greatly inspired.  Last but not least, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Professor Loh for taking the time to share his knowledge and experience with us.
