Math X STEAM Week: Logic, Speed and Spirit!✨

News date

What an incredible week of logic, speed and spirit! Our 2025 Math X STEAM Week was a whirlwind of talent and high-stakes competition. 🧮

⚔️ The Math X STEAM Battlefield

The energy was electric during our Inter-class Competitions! The “Battlefield” truly lived up to its name—especially for our Grade 3 students, who stepped up to compete with our sister school, Panyu Primary School Affiliated to Nanfang College Guangzhou. It was a fantastic exchange of skills, and our students had an absolute blast!

🧊 Rubik's Cube Tournament

The speed this year was mind-blowing! 26 elite cubers (out of over 90 enrollments) advanced to the finals. 👏Congratulations to the following speed-cubing masters:

🥇Overall Champion: 5D CHAN Lut Clayton

🥈1st Runner-up: 5B WONG Pak Yeung

🥉2nd Runner-up: 5D LAI Chi Ching

🏅Merit: 6D CHEUNG Yan Yuk

🎪 Lunch Recess Action in the Atrium!

Every day during lunch recess, the atrium buzzed with excitement at our interactive booths—students stepped into another dimension in the VR Maze Game and navigated tricky puzzles using our VR headsets, cheered as Lego Robotics Soccer teams battled it out on the pitch, and admired the Innovation Showcase, where we saw brilliant, creative products designed and presented by our very own students.

📚 In the Classroom: Cross-Subject STEAM Adventures!

Our students also dived into grade-specific projects during their STEAM lessons:

  • Grade 1 built handmade clocks and practiced telling time;
  • Grade 2 used a VR immersive supermarket to learn real-world money and coin transactions;
  • Grade 3 engineered stable structures with sticks and Blu Tack to test load capacity;
  • Grade 4 coded micro:bits to create digital compasses for a treasure hunt;
  • Grade 5 developed the “Factor App” to calculate factors instantly; and
  • Grade 6 built electric cars to investigate how wheel circumference relates to speed.

We’re incredibly proud of our young innovators and the creativity they showcased this week. Here’s to more exciting activities next year!
