Learning Expectations

Curriculum Design
- Sing accurately and musically in unison and in parts.
- Sing in third languages such as French, German and Spanish.

Curriculum Design
- Develop critical listening skills and understanding on how musical elements are used in compositional devices.
- Identify and respond critically to musical genres and styles of different cultures and periods, and express understanding and personal views on music.
- Analyse the artistic qualities of different musical genres and styles in relation to their historical and cultural contexts.
- Perform music accurately and fluently with appropriate control over technique and expression.
- Perform in different musical styles to demonstrate the ability to interpret music with aesthetic sensitivity and cultural understanding.
- Discuss, explain, and defend a personal interpretation of the music being performed.

The newly founded A-Singers won a Gold Award in Singapore International Choral Festival, two First Prizes in Hong Kong International Music Festival and International Young Musicians Music Competition Vienna respectively, and a Gold Award in the Joint School Music Competition 2023
The Whole School Orchestra and Choir joined forces in presenting the grand opening song in the Variety Show held at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall in May 2023
One of our outstanding music alumni, Ryan Lee, now pursues further studies in music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA)
In 2023-2024, the Chamber Boys’ Choir was added to the music teams to develop singers with changed voices

Our English Musical Team presented a fully-staged production of “Over the Rainbow” during the Variety Show 2023-2024
The Winter Concert 2023-2024 was successfully held at the Academic Community Hall, Hong Kong Baptist University in January 2024
13. To mark the 20th anniversary of the festival organized by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, our Chinese Drum Team was invited to perform at Sha Tin Park Amphitheatre.
14. Our A-Singers were invited by the Sha Tin Arts & Culture Promotion Committee to perform for the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China at Science Park Amphitheatre.
15. The Chinese Drum Team performed at “The Hong Kong Cultural and Arts Community Celebrates the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC National Day Reception” (香港文化藝術界慶祝中華人民共和國成立七十四周年國慶酒會) officiated by the Chief Executive, Mr. John Lee Ka-chiu.
16. Our school was honoured to be visited by the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, Shanxi Jiangzhou Drum and Drum Art Troupe. They performed and led masterclasses with our PS and SS Chinese Drum Teams.
17. Our Secondary School Choir and Chamber Boys’ Choir were invited to sing alongside the world-renowned Vienna Boys Choir at their 525th anniversary tour to Hong Kong.
18. Our newly founded String Orchestra won the Silver Award in the 2023 Hong Kong Young Music Interflows – String Orchestra Interflow, the first award of the team.
19. “Build A Better Community Gala” was held to promote the 2023 Hong Kong District Council election. Our Chinese Drum Team performed at Sha Tin Park Amphitheatre.
20. Members of our music teams were invited to perform Christmas tunes and carols at the Prince of Wales Hospital Lunchtime Concert in the honored presence of Sha Tin District Commissioner Mr. Yu Wai-sing, JP.
21. Our secondary division Handbell Team, A-Singers, Chamber Boys' Choir, Orchestra, Wind Band, and String Orchestra were invited to perform Christmas-themed music at HKBU Faculty and Staff Assembly.
22. Members of our A-Singers were invited to perform Christmas carols and sacred choral music at the signature cultural landmark of Shatin, Tao Fong Shan.
24. The Winter Concert ended on a high note on January 30, 2024 at Academic Community Hall, HKBU. The remarkable talents and impeccable performances of our A-Musicians were greatly received.
25. A-Singers, SS Choir and Chamber Boys’ Choir received the first three prizes of 2024—two gold awards and a silver award—from the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival.
26. Professional singer Ms. Fifi visited all classes in G7-9 to teach students a song in one of the third languages in our middle school curriculum: Spanish in G7, German in G8, and French in G9.
27. Vocalist Joyce Yue (11B) won the second place in Sing 動沙田歌唱比賽! Before the competition, there was an extraordinary saxophone duet performance by our alumnus Ryan Lee and Bryan Lee (7B).
28. The EDB Art Education Section held a pop music vocal workshop led by star vocal tutor Ms. Eli Fung (啤老師). Jack Tsoi (11B) was invited as an active participant in this workshop.
29. Jacob Wong (11B) won the prestigious Ms Barbara Fei Vocal Solo Prize at the 76th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.
30. The Saxophone Quartet and Woodwind Quintet made history by winning the second and third places, respectively, at the Music Festival.
31. Our Young talented musician Eugene Ho won the prestigious Tom Lee Music Scholarship for Piano Solo Final and ultimately the Grantham Award at the Music Festival.
32. Our Wind Band was honored to be invited to perform at the farewell ceremony for Xuelong 2, the nation’s first domestically built Antarctic research icebreaker.
