Life Planning Team
The Life Planning Team at A-School is committed to guide students through their personal and academic journeys. Our mission encompasses three key aspects that empower students to thrive: promoting self-understanding, providing the latest career information, and developing essential attitudes and skills.
1. Promote Self-Understanding of Students
Self-understanding is crucial for personal growth and effective decision-making. Our Life Planning Team facilitates this by:
Interactive Workshops: We conduct workshops that engage students in discovering their values, interests, and strengths. Through activities such as personality assessments and group discussions, students learn to appreciate their unique qualities.
Reflective Resources: We provide a variety of resources, including self-help materials and online tools, to encourage ongoing self-reflection and personal development.
2. Provide Latest Career Information to Students
In an ever-changing job market, staying informed about career options is essential. Our team ensures students have access to current career information through:
● Career Expos and Guest Speakers: We organize events featuring industry professionals who share their experiences and insights. These interactions give students a firsthand look at various career paths and the skills required for success.
● University Visits: Our school organizes university visits to give students first hand exposure to higher education institutions. During these visits, students explore campuses, attend informational sessions, and engage with faculty and current students, gaining insights into academic programs and the admissions process. These experiences help students connect their interests to potential career paths by understanding the skills and knowledge required for various professions. Ultimately, these visits empower students to make informed decisions about their education and envision how their academic pursuits will lead to successful careers.
● Workplace Visits: We organize workplace visits that allow students to observe and experience different professional environments firsthand. These visits provide valuable insights into various industries, enabling students to understand workplace dynamics, company cultures, and the day-to-day operations of different roles. Through these experiences, students can make more informed decisions about their career paths and gain inspiration for their future endeavors.
● Workshops on Career Exploration: Our career exploration workshops guide students in researching potential careers, understanding job requirements, and identifying relevant academic programs or training opportunities.
3. Develop Students' Attitudes and Skills
To succeed in their future endeavors, students need a robust set of attitudes and skills. Our Life Planning Team focuses on:
● Skill-Building Workshops: We offer workshops that teach essential skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, financial and time management. These skills are crucial for both academic success and future employment.
● Job Placement Opportunities [link to the page for Job Placement Schemes]: We actively facilitate job placement opportunities that allow students to gain practical experience in various industries. By connecting students with local businesses and community organizations, we provide them with the chance to apply their skills in real-world settings, helping them to develop professional competencies and gain valuable insights into their chosen career paths.
Through these three aspects, the Life Planning Team prepares students not only to understand themselves and their career options but also to develop the attitudes and skills necessary for lifelong success. We are dedicated to supporting our students as they navigate their unique paths toward a fulfilling future.
Job Placement Schemes
Job placement is a vital component of our Life Planning Team's mission, bridging the gap between education and the workforce. Our approach to job placement is closely intertwined with the three core aspects of our program: promoting self-understanding, providing career information, and developing attitudes and skills. In A-School, there are two job placement schemes that provide valuable opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and enhance their employability skills.
1. Work Experience Programmes (WEP) under the Business-School Partnership Programme (BSPP) by EDB
The EDB Business-School Partnership Programme (BSPP) is designed to facilitate career exploration activities for students. As part of this initiative, our school participates in the Work Experience Programmes (WEP), which allow students to engage in hands-on experiences in various industries. Through WEP, students can explore the actual operations of different trades and enterprises, gaining insights into routine tasks and job roles. This program is not an apprenticeship or internship but serves as an educational extracurricular activity, typically lasting no more than three days, or up to five days during school holidays. The EDB has mobilized over 220 business entities and community organizations from more than 30 trades and industries to participate, fostering a supportive environment for students' career planning. For more details, you can visit the EDB Work Experience page.
2. Placement Opportunity from Parents (POP) Scheme
In addition to the EDB BSPP programme, our school also runs the Placement Opportunities from Parents (POP) Scheme. This initiative encourages parents to share their professional networks and provide job placement opportunities for students. By leveraging the diverse experiences and connections of our parent community, students can access various roles in different industries. The POP scheme aims to create a supportive network that not only helps students gain practical experience but also fosters mentorship and guidance from parents in their respective fields.
