Gifted Education cum Excel 33 Team
The School has a comprehensive gifted education policy, which the Center for Gifted Education coordinates. Teachers have been trained to identify gifted and talented students and design appropriate curricula and teaching resources. The school adopted Dr. Joseph Renzulli's Three-Ring Conception of Giftedness. Students selected to participate in the school-based Excel 33 Gifted Education Programme will be offered ample chances to excel with their potential and become active community contributors.
In junior grades, students can choose one of the three strands, Humanities, STEAM, or Global Vision, to explore their interests and passions further. At the same time, we will develop their Leadership, Wilderness, and Interpersonal Skills.
In senior grades, students will be well-equipped with the skills and knowledge to become student leaders at school and in the community. They will continue to enhance their exposure to local or international institutions' programmes and plan their pathway for further studies.
In our “through–train” system, students can benefit from our support measures, whole-class enrichment, pull-out programmes, and off-school support. Students can also benefit from the Acceleration Programme in individual subjects or the Double Promotion Programme.
A-School has become the Gifted Education Satellite Centre to further enhance the provision of gifted education and realize the vision of whole-person development.

o The CLAPS (Creativity, Leadership, Activity, Project-based Learning & Service) programme is a dynamic school-based community outreach initiative that empowers students to engage meaningfully with their communities. Through hands-on projects, students participate in exchange programs and community service activities that align with the Sustainable Development Goals. Visits to local NGOs enrich the learning experience, allowing students to collaborate on real-world challenges and develop innovative solutions. By cultivating creativity and leadership skills, CLAPS fosters a sense of social responsibility while enhancing students' understanding of global issues.
o The regular personal development lessons for gifted students focus on nurturing character, well-being, and self-identification. Through various engaging activities—such as group discussions, mindfulness exercises, and creative projects—students explore their values, strengths, and aspirations. These lessons encourage self-reflection and collaboration, helping students develop emotional intelligence and resilience. By fostering a supportive environment, the program aims to empower students to embrace their unique gifts and confidently navigate their journeys.

● Mathematics AP

o Acceleration Programme could be provided within the school timetable.
o Recommend students to join the school Mathematics Team.
The Acceleration Programme (AP) in Mathematics provides a school-based mathematics curriculum tailor-made to exceptional mathematics students. AP students can learn more advanced and challenging knowledge based on their needs. The mathematics skills covered in the AP, such as problem-solving, computational thinking, etc., further stimulate students’ performance in assessments and competitions. The programme also equipped the students with essential knowledge that can be further extended to other disciplines, for example, engineering courses at the university level.
Joining the Acceleration Programme is not just about skipping grades; it is also about experiencing a different learning environment. Those who joined are grateful that A-School has provided them with an optimal learning environment in the programme, which is crucial to their academic development.
Double Promotion Programme
Grade skipping is an opportunity for students with exceptional academic performance to advance one or more grades at the end of the school year. Students must undergo academic assessments and receive approval from Subject Panels to qualify. The student, parents, principals, and an Educational Psychologist will be interviewed to evaluate readiness for double promotion.
Under the "Education Performance Plan and Record" scheme, regular reviews of the students' learning progress and overall development in other areas (OLE) are conducted. Additionally, Educational Psychologists, Social Workers, and the student development team provide comprehensive social and emotional support, ensuring a well-rounded approach to the students' growth and well-being.
Whole School Approach
Besides, a school-based three-tier model is adopted to implement gifted education in A-School: whole-class enrichment, pull-out programmes, and off-school support. Students can benefit from the acceleration of individual subjects or even a whole grade. Various support measures have also been developed for their unique affective development.
Teachers’ Professional Development and Parents’ Education are what A–school values. Regular gifted education workshops, talks, and seminars will be organized to foster home-school collaboration for the growth of gifted students.
Networks
A school has become the Gifted Education Satellite Centre of Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education to further enhance the provision of gifted education and realize the vision of whole-person development. In addition, students have plenty of opportunities to participate in the gifted programmes offered by external organizations and challenge themselves by joining local and overseas curricula and academic competitions.
