🌿 PBL Excursion to Okinawa, Japan – Learning Sustainability Through Culture and Action 🌿

Our recent Project-Based Learning (PBL) excursion took students to the southern shores of Okinawa, Japan, where they explored how the Japanese government integrates sustainable development principles into everyday life. From nature-based conservation to cultural preservation and climate action, our journey highlighted how policy, tradition, and local wisdom can intersect to create a more sustainable future.

✨ Students reflected deeply on their experiences:

• Julian Ho Long (9C)
  Engaging with the warmth of the Okinawan people taught us the value of patience and understanding. Activities like sugar cane cutting, where we learned about sustainable farming, and the aquarium visit, which emphasized marine conservation, deepened our appreciation for nature, as well as raised our awareness of environment protection.
   
• Issy Chan (9E)
  One of the most memorable moments was the Shisa Painting Workshop. Adding our own ideas to the Shisa models and examining their Japanese design made the experience especially engaging.

• James Yung (9D)
  As a city whose income is mostly from tourists and visitors, it is amazing to see how all the Okinawa locals work together to accomplish and balance the SDGs, including the environment, social and economic aspects.
   

🌏 This unforgettable journey encouraged our students to reflect, act, and advocate for sustainability – not just as an idea, but as a way of life.
