Continuing our exciting Term P adventures, our Grade 6 students are exploring marine life and coral reefs — discovering how these precious ecosystems support our planet and why they need our protection.
We are incredibly fortunate to collaborate with Prof. Fang Kar-Hei James from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Prof. Fang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Director of Research Postgraduate Studies, Associate Director of RCOcean, and a leading marine physiologist and toxicologist. He is dedicated to ocean health, seafood sustainability, coral reef conservation, and combating microplastics pollution. He was also awarded the prestigious 2024 Pew Fellowship in Marine Conservation.
In December 2025, Prof. Fang met with our PBL mentor and introduced his inspiring projects and key concepts in marine life conservation. Our teachers were thrilled by the possibilities and received valuable input from Prof. Fang on how to develop our students’ projects meaningfully.
Prof. Fang also generously met our students in person, sharing his expertise and passion for the ocean directly with them. Through this project, we hope our students will not only learn deeply but also take meaningful actions to make a positive impact in marine protection.
Beyond welcoming Prof. Fang into our classroom, we are also excited to have arranged a real-world learning experience — a visit to Hoi Ha Wan to observe the coral reefs up close! Stepping outside the classroom allows our students to witness these beautiful marine environments firsthand and understand the importance of conservation in real life.
