A-School Hot Dog Day

News date

Our School organised a whole school event, "Hot Dog Day", during lunch recess to promote the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) in late February! The English acronym "HOT DOG" stands for "Hit Out The Discrimination of Our Generation". The school aims to create a platform through "HOT DOG" Day for students of diverse backgrounds to interact and gain a better understanding of IDERD.

During the "Hot Dog Day", students enthusiastically participated in a diverse array of engaging activities that celebrated unity and cultural diversity. At the "Hot Dog Kitchen" Booth, the delectable Turkish sausages (served to promote inclusivity through the experience of tasting foods from different countries), skillfully crafted by our devoted principals, captivated a large crowd. Meanwhile, the Musical Instrument Booth transported participants on a global musical journey, exploring instruments like the Ukulele from Hawaii and the Djembe drum from Africa. The Timeless Games Booth (led by Christian Disciples) not only entertained but also promoted unity and understanding among diverse groups, fostering inclusive spaces that cherish diversity and forge meaningful connections. Over at the Traditional Costumes Changing AI Booth, Peer Mentors guided attendees in donning traditional attire from various cultures, nurturing an environment of inclusivity. Last but not least, at the Photo-taking Booth, students posed with different national flags, advocating for equality and embracing themed concepts, encapsulating a day filled with fun, learning and cultural appreciation.

After participating in the activities and enjoying delicious hot dogs, students signed pledges on the board to stand against discrimination, showcasing their dedication to promoting equality.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for contributing to the success of this event. Let's come together to celebrate diversity and strengthen unity within our school community!🌈🤝
