We are thrilled to share the outstanding achievement of our G12 talented students, 12A Lee Pak Kiu, 12A Zhang Jingchun, 12A He Tsz Yui and 12B Zhong Canyon, who have clinched the Merit Award at the EBZ Consilium Global Sustainable Hi-Tech Award™ The 2nd Session ESG AI Vertical Farming Award 2024 (Hong Kong)!

Their innovative prototype, the EcoCOMB, showcases an AI vertical farming model that combines aquaponics and advanced environmental controls. This self-sustaining system optimizes water usage by circulating it between fish and plants, thus reducing manual fertilization needs and curbing water wastage significantly.

Key features of their design encompass:

• Aquaponics System: Utilizing tilapia and Chinese cabbage, the system effectively converts fish waste into essential nutrients for plant growth.

• Environmental Regulation: The setup includes temperature and light regulation powered by solar panels, ensuring optimal conditions for both plants and fish throughout the year.

• A.I. Integration: Equipped with single-board computers, the setup collects and analyzes data on plant growth patterns, facilitating real-time adjustments for enhanced crop yield.

• Modular Structure: The hexagonal layout boosts spatial efficiency and mobility, catering to diverse communities.

This achievement not only underscores the diligence and ingenuity of our students but also highlights their dedication to sustainability and pioneering agricultural practices.
