A Legacy of Eloquence: Our English Debating Team Enters the Sing Tao Grand Final

News date

Words matter, and the weight they carry shapes worlds. In debate, every word said or unsaid is a choice, and every argument is a chance to change minds.

Our school’s English Debating Team has, once again, secured the golden ticket to the Grand Final of the 40th Sing Tao Inter-school Debating Competition for four consecutive years! Each year, we renew this record by taking a small step forward – a collective step forward. While the final result is still to come, the true victory lies in how far our students have come. Their hard work, critical thinking, and eloquence have already shone brightly, and we couldn’t be more proud of their growth.

In the semi-final, our team delivered an impressive performance, defeating St. Paul’s Secondary School with a decisive 3:0 victory. The Grand Final will take place on Wednesday, 7 May, at Queen Elizabeth Stadium. Let’s come together to support our team as they take the stage for this exciting finale.

This success builds on the foundation laid by past teams, including trailblazers like Clement Kwok (currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws in University College London), Melody Lin (currently pursuing Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in The University of Hong Kong), Alfred Cheung (currently studying BA in Physics in University of Oxford) and Ethan Ip (currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and Business in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology), who have carried the spirit of A-School into various professional fields across the world. Today, that legacy is carried forward by Hau In Tang, Kendra Lee, and Mischa Li, along with their teammates, who have proven that dedication can always lead to great things.

As Sing Tao Debate marks its 40th anniversary and our school approaches its 20th anniversary, let’s wish our debaters the very best of luck in the Grand Final!
