Geo-spatial and Geomorphological STEAM Workshop
On 2 July 2024, 27 enthusiastic Grade 11 students from History, Geography and Science classes actively participated in the Geo-spatial and Geomorphological STEAM Workshop organised by PolyU. This workshop successfully merged technology with historical discovery, creating an engaging learning experience.
During the workshop, students explored the fascinating world of GPS and Air-borne LiDAR technology. They utilised these advanced tools to investigate and uncover military installations dating back to the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong. Furthermore, they gained hands-on experience in fundamental archaeological excavation techniques, acquiring essential skills for excavating historical sites.
This unique interdisciplinary activity provided students with a valuable opportunity to apply their knowledge of History, Geography and Science in a practical, real-world context. By bridging these subjects, we aim to inspire students to continue integrating their learning in innovative and meaningful ways.
We are excited to witness how these young minds will use their newfound skills and knowledge in the future!
