HKBUAS Celebrates Astronomy: A Stellar Review of Recent Events!
At HKBUAS, our passion for astronomy shines brightly! We recently hosted two exciting events that allowed our students and families to explore the wonders of the universe.
Parent-Child Stargazing Event
On October 22, 2024, we organized a special “Pop-up” Evening Parent-Child Stargazing Event. Families gathered under the night sky to marvel at the stars, planets and learn more about celestial phenomena. It was a delightful evening filled with exploration and discovery, as parents and children bonded over their shared interest in astronomy. With telescopes set up and guided by our knowledgeable teachers, participants had the chance to observe various celestial bodies, sparking curiosity and wonder among our young astronomers.
Sunspot Observation During Lunch
On the same day, we also invited our students to observe sunspots during lunch recess. Students eagerly gathered to witness this fascinating solar phenomenon. It was a fantastic opportunity for hands-on learning, allowing students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-life observations.
Capturing the Comet: C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS)
In addition to these events, our dedicated teacher Mr. Steve Chan and student Chen Pok Yuen Matthew from 5E documented their observations of **C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS)**. Armed with cameras and telescopes, they captured stunning images of this comet, further enriching our school’s astronomy portfolio. These photographs will serve as a reminder of the beauty and intrigue of our universe.
We are thrilled to see such enthusiasm for astronomy within our school community. These events not only foster a love for science but also encourage students to explore and question the world around them. We look forward to more stargazing adventures and cosmic explorations in the future!
Thank you to all participants for making these events a success! Let’s keep looking up!
